Invest in knowledge
Situation in Slovenia regarding investments into knowledge is very promising. Slovenia is entitled to 4.4 billion Euros from the European structural and cohesion funds in the period from 2007 to 2013. One of Slovenia’s priorities is investment into knowledge, innovation and technological development. Resolution on National Development Projects for the period 2007-2023 identifies 35 large-scale projects of national interest from which a number of them are linked with investments in research and development. Funding for those projects will be assured from local, regional and national budgets, EU funds and private capital.
According to the National Resolution on Higher Education, the government is planning new investments in university and research institutions campuses through public-private partnership. In the resolution, the need for concentration of educational and scientific institutions is specially emphasized for easier management and mobility, and recommends campuses to include residential buildings and infrastructure for students’ activities. The Resolution also stimulates establishments of new private higher education institutions.
